Letting go of a love that want really any kind of love

I held you like a promise
I prayed you wouldn’t break,
thinking every whispered word
was real, not just a fake.

I built a world around you,
painted futures on thin air,
held tight to empty moments
and mistook them for your care.

But love is more than longing,
more than heartbeats out of place—
it’s truth that stays, not shadows
that vanish without trace.

So I let go of the almosts,
the “maybe someday” lies,
the way I loved the idea of you
more than who you were inside.

And now the weight is lifting—
a quiet, healing fall.
I didn’t lose a lasting love…
I just let go of nothing at all.
