Studying

“I have to study.”

“I’ll be quiet”

“You aren’t being quiet with the TV on…”

“Oh, yeah. I’ll keep it low…” he turned it down.

“I can still hear it… put on Gramp’s ear phones.”

“We can use his earphones? Where are they?”

“Just be careful, they’re on the shelf.”

“If I get in trouble you go with me…”

“Fine!”

“Ha, ha ha ha!!!!!”

“Randy, stop laughing so loud! I’m studying! … Randy!”

“What? Were you talking to me, I couldn’t hear because of the earphones…”

“Yes! You were laughing too loud!”

“Sorry! Denson Willow is on, he’s so funny!”

“Denson? Right now?”

“Yeah, it’s a rerun I think… ha, ha!!!....”

“What did he say that was so funny?”

“He’s talking about boats…”

“What’s so funny about boats?”

“The funny stuff is the stuff people do with their boats. Ha ha!.... He is such a funny guy! I’ll try to laugh quietly… ha ha ha!...”

“I need to study!!”

“Ha, ha ha! What a riot he is!”

“I give up, turn it up!”

Two days later Grant came home from school with his test, he flunked. “I thought you studied!” Randy said.

“Well after we watched Denson Willow, and you left for practice, I decided to eat something. Then Gramp came in, and was going to the store, and asked if I wanted to go. Then I forgot I was supposed to be studying…”

“I do that sometimes too…”

“Why do you both think you should study in the living room?” Gramp said walking in.

“It’s the law!” Grant said.

“Who said that?”

“Mom…”

Gramp laughed, “Are you kidding! I told her that when she was ten years old and she kept sneaking away to play instead of studying. I guess it still works!”

And life goes on.
