Sometimes all you need is a glance...

There are moments when the soul,
exhausted by its own weight,
tries to confess itself—
not through words,
for words are cowards,
but through the trembling silence
that slips out despite us.

I said nothing to you.
God knows I intended to.
But something in me—
some wretched mixture of fear, pride, and longing—
held my voice hostage.

And yet, in that brief pause,
in that breath I could not steady,
I felt you understand me
more brutally than if I had shouted my truth.

Is it not strange
how the heart betrays itself
even while we pretend to be composed?
How a glance can reveal
what a lifetime of speech could never articulate?

I think silence is the last refuge
of those who love too deeply
and fear too greatly.
For in silence,
nothing is denied,
nothing is confessed—
and yet everything stands naked.
