| Saving Christmas “I know where mom hid the presents” Lacy whispered as her brother walked by. Jimmy looked confused, “What?” “Christmas presents!” “You mean like the socks and underwear Mom always wraps up in Christmas paper?” “No, the ones that are fun! I was looking for my tennis racket to take to school and found Mom’s hiding place, it’s in the cellar! “Why would Mom hide stuff, she usually puts stuff right under the tree…” “Because she’s really Santa Claus!” “I don’t think so…When we go to tell Santa what we want for Christmas, Mom is with us…” “Yes, but she’s taking pictures so she can’t be hearing everything we ask the store Santa for. You know the store Santas are not the real Santa, they just work for him… her…” “So, you think she knows what we want because she’s Santa? She’s not even a boy!” “Maybe she’s magic enough to be both?” “Huh… well how does she get to other kids? She’s always here, till our bedtime, and here when we get up!” “I don’t know how she does it, but I found the stash in the cellar, everything we wanted! So, what else could it be?” Mom heard the whole thing. As soon as they left for school, she moved the “stash” into the trunk of her car. When the kids got home from school she asked if they had heard anything at school about presents… then added, “I heard on the news that Santa actually hides stuff in people’s houses because he doesn’t have room in his sleigh. But he takes it back if he thinks someone might find it…” The kids looked at each other… “Apparently,” Mom added, “he still brings the presents back on Christmas eve… funny!” she walked away. And once again, Mom saved Christmas. |
