| At The Park "What should I do if we see David and his new girlfriend?” Andrea asked. “Don’t make a scene.” Sandy said back. “How can you say that! I wouldn’t make a scene! I just don’t want to go today....” “That’s why we’re going, so you will see that you are ready. David is a jerk. You just never noticed it before because you had a crush on him for so many years.” “What? Who said that!” “Me. I remember the first time you mentioned David to me; we were in sixth grade. You were all excited because he had red hair and freckles just like yours.” “I said that in sixth grade?” “Absolutely. I thought you were nuts because he was a jerk, but you were my best friend so I kept my mouth shut.” “He was a jerk? I mean what did he do?” “Think! He threw rocks, he taunted Silvia because she was short, he stole other people’s lunches…” “I don’t remember that…” “Because you had that giant crush on him, he could do no wrong in your eyes!” “That isn’t be true!” “It is true. Maybe he will grow-up someday, but he’s a jerk now. You just get all riled up every time he gets a new girlfriend. He doesn’t know you exist! Maybe he will finally grow up someday, that’s when you should want to see him.” It made sense to Andrea. She kept her mind off David for years. Then during senior year, David asked her out! Unfortunately, she was already dating Alan Lemings. Alan was rich, very rich. They got married three years later, and divorced in their early thirties. (Alan was cheating.) Andrea became single, but now she was also rich. And guess who she met at the park one sunny day… |
