2 Christmas poems

Christmas Lights

Candles were Christmas lights from days of yore
but holiday glow still shines
just in different forms than before
a tradition from earlier times

Many colors gleaming so bright
like clusters of shimmering stars
sparkling with all their might
magic is never too far.

A Warm Christmas

The Christmas forecast is a bit strange
near eighty degrees it will be
a white Christmas couldn't be arranged
but that is okay with me

Barbecue smells waft in the air
not quite what I'd expect
birds singing without a care
all brightly hued and flecked

And balmy weather I do like
though here no palm trees sway
I'm sure each little tyke
will still love Christmas Day

They wait for Santa in the dark
not wanting to miss it
and there'll be no burning hearth
to complicate his visit

Down the chimney he will go
hopefully with no hitches
for there'll be no fireplace aglow
to dirty up his britches.
