I was late becoming
who you needed.
Late understanding.
Late choosing better.

They say it’s better to be late
than to never show up at all—
but lateness still leaves
empty chairs and unanswered why’s.

I’m here now,
with clearer eyes and heavier regret,
offering the version of me
you always deserved.

I don’t know if now is enough.
