Even Time needs to pause sometimes

Time danced on her heels. Tick-tock-tick-tock
She took another look at herself in the mirror
The whole world would be watching her
come midnight
From Kiribat in the east to Baker and Howland Islands in the west,
millions of people would count down - 10, 9 ...
and at '0' would kiss each other and throw confetti about.
Time had to look her very best for the occasion.
Every three hundred and sixty five (or 366, sometimes) days,
she became the most important being on earth.

She went down the passage daintily.
Tick-tock-tick-tock
And then she faltered -- her eyes wide
and paused.
He was so handsome, so alluring - who was he?
"Excuse me," she said to him. "I have to go down this passage"
"No, you don't," Superman replied.
"You must dance with me."
"I have appointments to keep with millions."
"They can wait. I have turned the earth the other way
on its axis."

She gasped. Then wobbled.
Yes, Time had tripped on her heels!
The earth had been spun the other way!

But he was so handsome, so charming.
She fell into his arms.
"Let's waltz," she said.
