In days long gone

All the King’s Men

by ~ Reagana

In days long gone, time of yore

Songs were sung, like tales of lore

Of dragons, and kings, and mighty feats

That kept us on the edge of our seats

Now all we have is lovesick prose

Mushy feelings from head to toes

That has its place, I have no doubt

But wonder what brought it about

Were all the castles burned to the ground

By mighty dragons flying around

And all the wizards gone up in smoke

From a vial of poison that they broke

Have battles been planned and then waged

By ruthless villains and King’s enraged

Damsels saved from dastardly deeds

By princes riding majestic steeds

Have fantastical tales been hidden in dust

Upon the shelves that I know just must

Be perused by those who seek to discover

These tales awaiting beneath the book’s cover
