Made My Day

My phone rang. I was in a very cool episode of Bones. I’d seen it many times, but still enjoyed it so much that, I’d finally bought the whole series. So I can watch it over and over anytime.

Not wanting to miss the next part (in the tunnel where they’d found a body…) I grabbed the remote and paused it, then picked up the phone mostly to get it to stop ringing. Nobody calls to chit chat anymore. I occasionally miss that.

“Hello?” I said as if I loved getting phone calls and was happy and perky (not true.) I expected someone trying to sell me on something.

“Hello! Is this Mrs. Myers?” the voice said. “We got your order but we’re a bit confused.”

I was confused! I am not a Mrs. Myers. “I’m afraid you have the wrong phone number…” I said and I started to hang up (well, these days I think they call it ‘turn off’ or something. Old habits die hard….)

“Oh, I’m sorry! This is not Mrs. Myers? Well, perhaps you might be interested in our cookware…”

“You’re selling cookware, over the phone?” I asked, ready to laugh.

“It’s so lovely, have you not seen our ad?”

“I don’t even know what you’re selling, let alone where your ad is.” I added that in case it was really someone legit as opposed to someone trying to get people to send them money, while they roll you over a barrel. Or in this case, a phone…

“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot I have the wrong number for Mrs. Myers… You are?”

I’m old, and behind time… but one of the things I get from Castle is how to talk to sneaky liars. “Geraldene Not-stupid!” I said, and hung up.

It made my day!
