Automatic Writing

When a person is possessed and writes something that does not come from their own self.

         Spiritual Writing; is when a medium’s body is occupied by an entity and they write words from the afterworld. And Psychography, is another name for automatic writing in spiritualism.

         Leonora Piper was a trance medium from New Hampshire in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. She could speak in voices from the dead and produced automatic writing. William James, philosopher and vice president of the American Society for Psychical Research thought that Leonora’s claims were genuine.

         Automatic spirit writing; can also appear on walls, as was the case at Borley Rectory, England in the 1930s. Mysterious text was witnessed on the inside of the “Most Haunted House in England” with no explanation of any incarnated occupant that could have produced them.

         Planchette writing is another form of written messages from the other side. A board with 2 very small wheels and a pencil is placed over a piece of paper. People place their hands on the board and a specter moves it to write words on the paper. A planchette board is a predecessor to a Ouija board. The spirit game uses a planchette to move over prewritten letters and answers. But Ouija’s are dangerous and should not be used. They can conjure up unwanted demonic specters.

         A term I came up with "Phantasmal Authoring"; When a person in the twenty-first century that continues to write or update internet web pages after they have died. This is a modern type of automatic writing.
An "incorporeal spectral entity" that can input information through computerized devices.
Also a phantasm authorship of articles from the netherworld.

         Apports:
When objects appear out of nowhere, from nothing. They are believed to be produced by incorporeal spectral entities. The term is short for apportation, like teleportation.

         Spiritualization; were items like flowers and kitchen utensils that appeared out of nowhere, sometimes falling from the ceiling above.
“Spirited away”; was the dematerialization of objects. When Apports, or other objects just disappear.
This Term I found in William Danmar's book; “Ghostology, The Naturalistic Philosophy of Ghosts.”

At Borley Rectory, there were apports that appeared mysteriously and vanished. A woman’s coat and wedding ring were found that seemed to come from nowhere.
Apport Mediums; are psychics that can transport objects from one location to another.

         It could be that physical things could come from another dimension. That ghosts could transport items from the astral plane into our level of existence through an interdimensional portal.


         Teleportation; is the sending objects from one place to another using mental capabilities. Similar to apports, apportation. Teleportation is usually performed by a psychic medium, therefore it is a part of psychic phenomena. Whilst apportation comes under the heading of Ghostology, as it is thought to be instigated by spectral entities.
