| Win Win My toes were cold. The socks I had on were practically see through, so I went looking for warmer socks. In my room, plowing through the piles of stuff all over the place hoping to come across those socks. This is when I realized why my mother keeps telling me to clean my room. It popped into my head when Oscar, our dog, started pulling out something from under my bed, it was a dinner plate with quite a bit of smushed food still on it. I couldn’t even tell what it was. Well, my feet weren’t getting any warmer, so I started. You’d think a person could go right to their sock drawer to get socks. But no, my sock drawer didn’t even have worthless socks in it. Just lots of junk, no socks. That was the blow that caught me. I emptied out the drawer, and started organizing my room. Might as well do some good while looking for socks! I even swept under my bed! Which added another hour to the job… When the room was cleaner, and much more organized, I realized I still hadn’t found any socks. Sitting down to think, I caught sight of a red bird outside. I loved birds, so I automatically jumped up to see what it was. It was a cardinal! So beautiful! And, sitting on our cloth line, where about ten pairs of my socks, including my slipper socks, were hanging. Now I remembered Mom asking for all our socks. Said she had a new cleaner to try out. Odd… a new sock cleaner…? But my mother can be very tricky when needed. I had too many socks to not be able to find a pair. Now I have them all! And a clean room to boot! Win, win! |
