A letter to myself vocalizing my main goal for 2026!

Dear Me,
Right now, you are standing at the edge of a year that holds so much promise, but I know your heart is anchored to one specific light: The Star Lantern.
This isn't just a project on a hard drive; it’s a promise. You remember the look in Rylen’s eyes when he needed words that didn’t exist yet—words to help a child navigate the hollow space left behind when a parent is gone. You promised him, and yourself, that you would turn that grief into a guidepost for other families. 2026 is the year that promise becomes a reality.
To make this happen, let’s be concrete. No more "writing when inspired." Here is our roadmap:
• By March 1st: Complete the final round of professional edits. Be brave enough to cut what doesn't serve the story, even if those words were hard-won.
• By May 15th: Finalize the illustrations and formatting. Every page should feel like a warm hug to the child holding it.
• By August 30th: Submit the manuscript to at least five specialized publishers or finalize the self-publishing distribution plan.
• By December: Have a physical copy of The Star Lantern in your hands—and most importantly, in Rylen’s.
Don't let the technical hurdles of the publishing world dim your "why." When the queries get rejected or the formatting feels impossible, remember the kids who are currently sitting in the dark, waiting for a lantern to show them they aren't alone.
