An Ode to Park Hill Apartments

Wherein I practice writing poetry. Only way to get better.

A brick-faced front, the building far from new
Facing the east, it has a highway view
The monthly rent is - reasonable, they say
Enough to not use your *entire* take-home pay

The smell of weed floats gently in the air
The elevator jolts; just take the stairs
The air-conditioning leaks like it's perspiring
The shower is too hot - no cold - no hot - well, at least the water's firing

As far as size a mansion it is not
500 feet doesn't feel like a whole lot
The maintenance team is well-equipped and able
Though I do wish the TV at least came with cable

A former silk mill is its history
How'd it turn into homes? It's not a mystery
NJ likes to cram its people in
To waste real estate would be the cardinal sin

Although the lodgings may be far from royal
It's been my home.. to Park Hill I am loyal!
