Don't sleep on the Bovinae this Olympics, folks!

“Welcome back to the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Summer Animalia Olympic Games, everyone! I’m your host, Bubba the Grizzly, joined by my lovely co-host, Rosa the Squirrel, coming to you live from Winchester Farm Stadium! How are you feeling tonight, Rosa?”

“Oh, Bubba, it’s been a delightful evening already—but now it’s time for the main event, the one that truly gets everyone buzzing: the Parade of Classifications!”

“That’s right, Rosa! And as always, there’s one Classification in every Olympics that everyone keeps a close eye on.”

“Exactly. Last time, we weren’t surprised when the Primates dominated with a record-setting 65 gold medals. But this year, Bubba, we have a new contender. Drumroll, please…the Bovinae!”

“And here they come marching into the stadium, Rosa! Only 24 members strong, but make no mistake—this is a powerhouse team. Leading the charge and proudly waving the Bovinae Classification flag is none other than the legendary Bubalus the Water Buffalo. Despite his massive frame, he’s captured ten gold medals across multiple swimming events in the last two Olympic Games.”

“He’s especially famous for shattering the 20,000-meter record—a feat many believe will stand forever.”

“Absolutely incredible, Bubba. Bubalus leads a younger, energetic squad of six water buffalos, marching just behind him in glittering yellow, green, and purple—the official colors of their Classification. A bold look, and I love it!”

“They’re sure to be household names soon. And speaking of standout stars—look who’s coming up next, Rosa!”

“Oh yes, the graceful gazelles of the gymnastics team! These six earned their spots through an intense and highly competitive Nationals. Just look at them prancing already, showing off their skills. A joy to watch!”

“Especially Aleria. At just three years old, she’s considered a veteran of the team and will undoubtedly be relied upon to guide them toward multiple gold medals.”

“And right behind them, Bubba, are the superstars of this Classification—at least in my opinion.”

“Oh? What makes you say that, Rosa?”

“Well, the Giraffa have long dominated basketball, but I wouldn’t sleep on the Bovinae lineup this year. Squid, Hammerson, Fetality, Angus, and—of course—DeBully. A fearsome group of bulls from the NBBA, the National Bovine Basketball Association, ready to give any opponent a run for their money.”

“They did win the Worlds last year, didn’t they?”

“They sure did—shocking the Giraffa in overtime with that now-infamous three-pointer, when DeBully gently nudged the ball into the basket with his majestic horns. No one saw that coming!”

“Haha! And rounding out the team are the six competitors from Track and Field—always a crowd favorite during the final week of the Games. Who’s representing the Bovinae here, Rosa?”

“Oh, I adore Track and Field! And these bovethletes—yes, I just coined that term—are true professionals. For the short-distance races, we have gazelles Shanista and Rasta. For long distance, the legendary antelope Texarius the Great, now competing in his fourth Olympic Games.”

“He already boasts two golds, two silvers, and a bronze. I can’t wait to see how he performs in the Marathon this year.”

“And let’s not forget the Queen of the Shot Put herself—Bonny the Bison! She shattered the world record earlier this year, launching the shot over 100 meters with her signature headbutt. I believe the ball landed in the next stadium.”

“The judges had no choice but to award the record immediately. I don’t think they ever found the ball, Rosa.”

“A mystery for the ages! And who’s closing out the Bovinae lineup, Bubba?”

“Our final two bovethletes—if I may borrow your term—are the twin sister cows, Halleluyah and Hallelunah, competing in Speed Walking. I know it sounds surprising, but you’d be amazed how fast they can move when motivated. Just the other day, I was chased by one who was determined to get my pho—”

“Haha! I’m sure the audience doesn’t need to hear about your many devoted fans, Bubba. Still, it’ll be exciting to see how the sisters perform—and, really, how the entire Bovinae team fares this year. I can’t wait for the Games to begin!”

“Neither can I, Rosa! We’ll continue with the Parade of Classifications right after this commercial break. Stay tuned, folks!”
