What was seen and what was recorded, what we are all in.

Renee Good was shot at close range. The projectile entered the facial area and caused catastrophic injury. Death followed within minutes. No attempt at medical aid was made. None was permitted. No expression of shock or remorse was recorded at the scene. Her widow was left at the scene. Her child was not at the scene. The shooter was escorted away by companions. The event was logged, categorized, and entered into the record. One word remains in it.

You—god-fearing,
wrapped in your flag—
defend a stranger
who shouted "Bitch!"
as he killed her.

The anger is human.
The defense is human.

That continues.

Because the anger is ours.
The defense is ours.
We are all in it.
Again.
