Writer's Cramp

After a thirty year search by the family, Armand Du Bois, sole surviving heir to the Du Bois fortune, was found in an alms house in La Grange, Kentucky.

Du Bois apparently disappeared from his home in Pont Scorff, Brittany in 1995 after an altercation in a bar with his brother Jacque, now deceased.

His niece, Juliette Lafiette, acting as spokesperson for the Du Bois family told us "At first we expect 'e come home. When a week he no come we get detective to look. Detective 'e look all France but 'e no find."

It was thanks to a fellow resident of the alms houses that Du Bois was reunited with his family. Booker Rabnitz, a former La Grange police officer explained.

We just knew him as Frenchy. When I heard he was suffering from amnesia I decided to try and help. I back tracked him to the docks, found out there was a French ship in at the time he was found. Contacted the shipping company. They said he crewed for them for twenty odd years, been all over the world he has. They knew his real name. Rest is history.

So why did this man run away to sea? Juliette explained. "My fazzer he was hurt. Maybe Uncle Armand think 'e kill him."

And the amnesia? Stress related according to a doctor who examined him. Maybe we will never really know this man's story.
