Valentine's Day

John sat, going over his thoughts about Valentines Day. He’d only been dating Cynthia for a few weeks. Was it enough to warrant a big Valetines Day with her, or would that be embarrassing. And embarrassing to who, her or him…?

If he overdid it and she was not ready he may lose her! However, if he held back, she might think he didn’t care for her enough. It was hard enough feeling that he honestly would marry her tomorrow if the occasion brought it up. He knew it wouldn’t, but that’s how he was feeling about her. She was the one, already. He just didn’t know if he was her one…

He had already purchased too much. He got her favorite candy first, then thinking that was more kid food, he got a heart shaped container to put them in… Then, still worried he went for flowers too. Lovely roses, even he loved them. But then a handful of violets in case the roses seemed too much… It all depended on the mood she was in when he picked her up.

Pulling into the parking spot, he couldn’t decide if he should walk up with everything, or leave it in the car till later… As he tried to decide, suddenly the car door popped open and Cynthia jumped in.

“Happy Valentines Day!” she shouted, putting her arms around him and giving him a big kiss! “Will you be my Valentine?” she asked.

“Forever,” he said forgetting all about the worry that this was too fast. She smiled and kissed him again. Then she saw all the presents in on the back seat. She loved them all.

That was their first Valentine’s Day. They’re having their sixty-third this year. Sometimes the heart makes those decisions for us. Sometimes they’re right.
