I am the crack
in the vase placed
carefully
on the shelf.
positioned just so,
so no one sees
where I broke.

I still hold
the flowers,
the water,
and feel the sunlight
as if I'm whole.
but I feel the leak
every hour, minute.

pay no mind to
how the roses wilt
faster within me,
how the wood warps
gradually
with damage.

only see
that I still stand.
