The return of the Hat

The years had flown past.
Me and Sally were grown.
It was truly too fast-- we had kids of our own!

The Cat did not visit in all that time since,
though we watched for him, hoped for a glimpse of that prince!

My children were cranky and terribly bored,
So I grabbed my guitar, and I strummed the first chord.
But the children said,
"No!
         "No, no!
                   "No, no, no, no!"
To my song, they said, "No! That guitar has to go!"

Then a magic thing happened right there in our flat--
Guess who had appeared? 'Twas the Cat in the Hat!

I said, "How I've missed you! Oh, where have you been?"

He replied, "I've not met you. Have you met my twin?
I'm wearing his hat now. It's magic, you see.
It decided it must introduce you to me.
But I can't stay too long; it would anger my brother,
And you know that family takes care of each other.

So learn from my words," said the Cat, "and be kinder
To dads who make music -- your daily reminder
To work hard and play hard and practice your skills
So that when you grow up you can pay all your bills.
