Rumbling

Their excitement, then nervousness, grew more intense.

         The fire blazes beneath the rocket,
                    As the Turbulent waves of fire, dance.

         The men exchange excited glances,
                    With the quivering beating of their hearts.

          Space awaits further exploration,
                    While Earth's oceans remain a mystery,

          Voices rise in adept anticipation,
                   Of seeing the rocket soar to fantastical heights.

          The launch mount violently snaps away,
                    Premature, as its time should not yet be.

          Deep rumbling of a boom is felt,
                    As the crew's encasement grows stifling.

          The scorching heat becomes unbearable,
                    While raspy breaths become fearfully shallow.

          A breaking high-pitched squeal suffocates the air ...
