It is Still Your Day, Jimmy
March 31, 2026

Happy Birthday, James Anderson Davis.

My dear brother, my mother's only son, born on this 31st day of March, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Today is still your day, even though you are no longer here with us.

I think of you throughout the year, but today, as always, I stop and pause just for you.

You live on in my heart, and through your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren. Your life did not end; it continues through them.

I thank God for you being a part of my life, and for the memories we shared.

And yes, I will never forget you teaching me how to drive an eighteen-wheeler. Of all the things you could have taught me, that was something. A gift I still carry.

You never mastered reading, but no one, and I mean no one, came close to you when it came to cars, trucks, and anything that moved. You knew your way around an engine like it was second nature.

You used to say you were not a fighter, and for the life of me, I never understood why you called yourself a lover, but that is what you said, and you said it with a straight face. I still smile at that.

Your mother loved you unconditionally, and because of her love, I do too. Always have, always will.

Wherever you are, Jimmy, I pray you God's speed and peaceful rest as you wait for His return.

Happy eighty-second birthday.

I love you.

Your sister, Malinda,
always called Lynn by you
