This passage shows the emotional pain Sher faces at home. |
| Sher always wanted to be seen as a good daughter, but maybe it wasn't meant to be. Sher's mom would take her sister out whenever she went somewhere, and would only ask about Sher as a formality. She'd bring back clothes and lots of things for Sher's sister, but wouldn't even get Sher a single rupee's worth of anything. Sher's father would say it's because she's the older daughter. Sher's mom and sister would bribe her with 50 or 100 rupees whenever they went out, telling her to take care of the house. Just imagine how it feels when someone thinks you're so greedy. Is Sher's worth in the house just to take care of it? Sher didn't want to be left alone, but her mom didn't care about what Sher thought or felt. She only liked going out with her older daughter. Maybe Sher's mom didn't like taking her out because of her eyes, and whenever they went to a family function, she'd give Sher angry looks the whole way (part-5) (Part-6):- The lioness's mother never worried about her studies, never pushed her to become a career woman. But when it came to marriage, she pressured her to learn domestic skills. The lioness couldn't help but think, if her mother cared so much about her, why did she spend money on her sister's education and not hers? Her mother only wanted her elder sister to have a career, not the lioness. The lioness smiled, but deep down, she was hurting. Her mother supported only her elder sister, making the lioness feel like a step-daughter. She felt her mother thought only about her elder sister, buying her clothes and things, leaving the lioness feeling sad. But she behaved normally, hiding her weakness. The lioness's life changed when she found Krishna, whom she considered her partner. She would share her troubles with him. But soon, her grandmother had a silent attack, requiring surgery. Unfortunately, a complication arose – her grandmother's nerve didn't open, putting her at risk. Despite this, her grandmother remained positive, thinking she would recover. The lioness realized how much she loved her grandmother, seeing her condition. She cried, and was angry with her uncles for not being there when her grandmother needed them most. Her grandmother had always worried about her children, wondering if they were safe, if they had reached home. But when she was ill, only two sons worried about her, the other three didn't. The lioness's mother, who only pretended to care, never truly worried about her. |
