The candle’s still burning |
1 . . Can we live us a lifetime With tears on our face Hoping in something That might fill the space Is it somewhere we’re going Or somewhere we’ve been A time that is now Or a time that was then Does the sunset tomorrow Rely on today Or do dreams Just fade away I can’t help But wonder sometimes Why do the rainbows Refuse to unwind Is it tied to emotions Or just circumstance Or is it the thrill Of the dance Are the steps that we’re taking The same as before Do we gaze out the window Or open the door Do we lose all our chances The music may end Not knowing for certain Just where to begin Can we waste one tomorrow Afraid of today Or does time Just slip away I can’t help But wonder sometimes What makes the music Go on in my mind Is it tied to the motion Or part of the trance Or is it the thrill Of the dance… 2 . . The candle’s still burning Though the flame’s fading fast As the life that it fights for Reflects on the glass Still the window and mirror Are one and the same With one showing sorrow The other our shame With nose pressed against them Do we open our eyes, Do we look out the window, Or peer deep inside? Do we witness our falseness Or believe in our truth? Are the hopes that we fight for Discarded with youth? With our face in the mirror Do we happen a glance Or do we just sit out the dance... |
