A Few brief springtime poems

Forsythia

Like spring itself
the forsythia has faded
And gone away.
The crocus are long gone
And now the daffodils.
The days are warmer
The lilies are popping up.
The newness of life too soon
has left us.
Soon we will wilt in the heat
And long for blossoms.

The Danger of Frost

Warm humid days lull us into believing
Summer is on the way.
We plant the seeds and set out plants.
As darkness nears we have to cover the plants
And the seeded beds.
Life is like that.
Just when we feel secure
And ready to take charge
We have to retreat
And seek refuge,
Protecting ourselves from impending doom.
