A short precursor "dream" followed by a "prophetic dream"...

While writing down these two successive dreams from memory, my hand went numb incessantly as I held the pen and kept shaking it off. (I’m 67.)

FIRST DREAM:
The precursor to the main dream was small and short-lived: I was in an automobile traveling at an extremely high-rate of speed on a spiraling turnpike. It was dark and unclear as to what was around the next curve when I came upon another vehicle going at a slower pace. Lightly tapping the brake, I was able to proceed and complete the jaunt without colliding.

SECOND DREAM:
Then, like at an amusement water park, an attendant directed us toward a turbulent thrill ride. Intuitively, we knew it was required; so we hesitantly but willingly agreed to continue. The attendant (our guide) assured us that although the journey would be treacherous, help would always be near and available enroute.

This thrill ride resembled a water flume, body surfing without the protection or encumbrance of a vehicle. It was a well-traveled, tried route through dirty snow and ice.

My male cat, Gabriel, was with me, allowing me to hold him close without incident. (Normally, he doesn’t like to be held. So, it was a marveling experience.)

With the attendant’s assistance and assurances, we began. The route was precarious as we body-surfed (bundled in winter clothes) at an extremely high-rate of speed with perilous twists, turns and obstacles.

At one point, we approached a crossing of a Hyperloop or Vactrain, blocking the path in front of us. At the last moment, we intuitively curved away and continued. Another time as we careened toward a mighty, turbulent rush of flood waters, we intuitively leaned away, narrowly escaping and continuing the course. There were many other obstacles and perils. All the while, I was clutching Gabriel against me.

During our travels, Gabriel lost his mittens and securely tucked in his paws for warmth.

We thought this journey was over and were given token rewards; however, we came to understand the rewards were encouragement to keep us on our path, moving forward---trusting that we would be okay and make it through.

Along the way, members of my family passed by, also on the journey. One of my sisters followed the chosen path for a while then took an untried fork to her own peril. We assumed she didn’t make it. Approaching completion, we were thrilled to see her waiting at the finish line.

As the dream came to an end, it was clear that the turmoil and turbulence was behind us. We successfully completed our journey; and the attendant was there to welcome us home.

                              - - - - - - - -

I hope this telling does the dream justice as I believe it is an allegory of the born-again, bible-believing Christian life.

The “attendant” was Jesus and the help received along the way was by the Holy Spirit. To me, the dream makes a succinct, clear picture of our journey of faith, as Christians.

Furthermore, I couldn't figure out why Gabriel (my male cat) was in the dream but Ruby Marie (my female cat) was not. Then it dawned on me that Gabriel represents an angel---my guardian angel in fact. Though I was holding him in the dream, Gabriel (representing my guardian angel) was transversely holding me. [Prophetic dreams are full of symbolism, pictures. Remember, our Lord Jesus teaches us in the scriptures via parables.]
