John Enjoyed National Animal Crackers Day. |
John Enjoyed National Animal Crackers Day Silvern Little John, on the eve of the date so grand, National Crackers, a treat in hand. A package arrived, oddly shaped and deep, The secret whispers the cardboard did keep. Not the usual box, with red circus bright, But covered in leaves, bathed in pale moonlight. He tore at the twine, with a curious grin, What treasures are waiting, contained within? No familiar lion, or elephant grey, No sugar-dusted camel to brighten the day. Instead, from the tissue, a giraffe took flight, Its coat woven from stars of the deep night. A tiger of topaz, with stripes sharp and bold, A polar bear crafted from stories untold. An iguana of jade, with eyes that did gleam, Living jewels plucked from a fantastical dream. A fox made of fire, with embers that glowed, A rhino of river rock, patiently showed Its ancient existence, a spirit so grand, A landscape contained in the palm of his hand. He gasped at the wonder, his heart full of glee, This magical box, just for him, you see. Were they real? Were they dreams? He couldn’t decide, As cracker-creatures stood, side by side. He reached out a finger, to touch the fox's blaze, Half expecting it to vanish, in a sugary haze. But warmth met his skin, and a whisper he heard, "Remember, dear John, every fanciful word." He knew in that instant that, this gift was profound, A portal to stories, on hallowed ground. And as he drifted to sleep, with the creatures in sight, He knew National Crackers would bring pure delight. Lines: 32 Prompt ▶︎ |
