Reversal

A response to the SCOTUS decision rolling back gerrymandering protections for minorities.

Let’s not tether ourselves to the ground
but rather,
let’s extinguish these last embers
of reason;
Let's stand in the rust, the color of the archaic,
while the accomplishment of our history,
once vibrant like a violet sunset,
is blunted.
Mercy will pull herself from our embrace,
forever restless,
and we will find ourselves in the thickets
anew,
abandoned of voice,
invisible and unseen,
destined to trudge through the brambles
of this insanity,
until the path of righteousness finds us once again.
