A Mother's Love

A short remembrance of those who gave me life and purpose.

She was sixteen. He was eighteen. I was nothing.

After I became something, she realized she couldn't give me the care I'd need, and she gave me away with the hope that someone more capable would come along.

And someone did. They loved, cared, encouraged, and eventually brought home another young mother's heartbreak.

And we grew and learned and laughed and cried together. Four of us, who eventually became eight, thanks to a dog, a cat, and two goldfish.

Years went by. Now it's just my brother and me. But we're doing fine, thanks to a few people who cared.
