“Take a left at the next street,” Jane said looking up from the note in her hand.

“OK. This is getting kind-of far…”

“I know. But my mother knows pretty much everything, and how to get there. She said there’s a store called Hickies and she’s sure we’ll find great dresses there, and way cheaper than Poppers.”

“OK… but I don’t see any actual stores coming up…”

“Well, let’s stick to the directions she wrote. She wouldn’t have us go there if it was too far away.”

“OK,” said Sue, “We need to turn onto Will Road next. It should be coming up.”

“Will Road?”

“I think that’s what she wrote… she has difficult penmanship…”

“Could it be Williams? That’s right there…”

“We could go down it just in case…” said Sue, turning on her blinker.

As they turned in Sue almost screamed, “There’s Billy Nelson!”

“Oh my gosh! Did he see us?”

“I think so, he’s waving… I better stop.”

“Do not tell him I’ve had a crush on him since kindergarten!”

“Of course not!”

They stopped and Billy walked over. “Jane… Sue… you two must be lost! Nobody ever comes down this street on purpose.”

“Hi! We were looking for Hickies…” Jane said, “Do you know where it is?”

“Oh sure, one street over. Are you two going to the dance?”

“Yes, are you?”

“I wasn’t, but now that I know you’re going, I think I will!”

“That’s nice, why only if we’re going?”

“Because Henry Grant has a wicked crush on Susan. Oop! Do not tell anyone I told you, he’ll kill me!”

Jane laughed, “We won’t! Promise!” and off they drove.

Henry and Susan never did date. However, Billy and Jane married in their twenties. And, oddly enough, they named their children Henry, and Susan.
