Let’s Go!

"Do you want some advice?"

“No.” said Andy.

“Come on, you’re stuck between a rock and a hard spot, I can help.”

“It’s ‘place’…”

“What’s place?”

“The saying, it’s ‘stuck between a rock and a hard place’ not a rock and a hard spot…

“What difference does it make, you knew what I meant, right?”

“Yes, but you said it wrong.”

“Are you my teacher now, correcting my vocabulary?”

“No, I just thought you ought to know that you were saying it wrong.”

“Who cares? You know what I was trying to say.”

“But you did have it wrong. When you do that, if the person you’re talking to knows the right way to say it, at the very least it will throw him off. But it could also shake the conversation, and you might never get your opinion in, let alone fix the real situation.
“Ah ha… So, rock and a hard place, not a rock and a hard spot. Thanks. I’ll try to remember that the next time I try to use it. Off he went.”

“No problem! Glad I could help!”

“What was that about?” came a voice from behind him. It was his friend Gary.

“Randel wanted to give me some advice about a problem I was having with Frank. But Randel doesn’t know Frank, I already know what to do about Frank. But I had to get Randel to stay out of it.”

“And you did that with a rock and a hard place?”

“You’d be surprised at how many people stop talking when you throw a mistake at them.”

“l will try to remember that in the future… what are you going to do about Frank?”

“Nothing, Frank likely just forgot about it.”

“Amazing again!”

“To the park it is! Let’s go!”
