When She Calls me Superman

Poem / Song about being inspired by the love of another

Like Achilles in the battle
she can bring my heart to heel,
I’d fight a thousand men around me
just to drop my arms and kneel.

I may be a sole survivor,
Odysseus without a plan,
but she keeps me sailing onward
just to be her Superman.

I can conquer all my demons,
those that pull apart my will,
then they rise again upon me,
Sisyphus goes up his hill.

She’s the Valkyrie of legend,
searching for her warrior’s heart,
and when her golden wings surround me,
let my spirit fall apart.

She’s Lois Lane, my Mary Jane,
Secret to my hidden pain.
She’s the chorus, rise above,
Reason why I choose to love
And she calls me Superman.

I’ve heard the warnings of my father,
Daedalus is old and wise,
But I’ll keep on flying upward
to feel the heat within her eyes.

Hercules completed labors,
impossible, they can’t be done.
But when Delphi weeps in sorrow,
to the grindstone I return.

Doomed to fall to Jormungandr,
but I’ll fight him all the same,
feel the venom flowing through me
as I hear her call my name.

She’s the Valkyrie of legend,
but she’s taken up my hand,
and she’s changed her name forever,
bound to be her Superman.

She’s Lois Lane, my Mary Jane,
Secret to my hidden pain.
She’s the chorus, rise above,
Reason why I choose to love
And she calls me Superman.
