A creative piece that explains the drive behind becoming a writer.

What is a Writer?

Writers are truly unique individuals. A writer has the ability to use their creativity to create a story that will captivate just about any reader. Most writers put their heart and soul into everything they write. The capable writer will leave nothing to the imagination.

A writer must be able to express a variety of feelings such as anger, happiness, love, fear and self preservation. All of these emotions are critical for a successful life and career. If you don’t believe this than ask any successful writer.

Becoming a good writer is something that takes persistence, drive and the ability to convey your innermost thoughts. In addition, a skilled writer has the ability to incorporate their life experiences into their work.

I have often compared a writer to a method actor. A method actor has the ability to create a character based on their own life experiences weather those experiences were joyous or painful. Weather an experience is positive or negative it gives the person a chance to learn from past mistakes and move forward.

For example, , if a writer wishes to write about how to raise a child in an uncertain and difficult world , the person can easily use experiences which they went through in childhood as well as their adolescence. Research has proven that a person is almost always a product of their environment.

An individuals upbringing is influenced by parental involvement and guidance. Parental influence ultimately shapes ones thought process as well as their conception and understanding of people and the world around them.

Without the emotional support of a loving parent, a child can grow up feeling lost with no clear direction or balance in their life. This can lead to self doubt, low self esteem and the inability to form meaningful relationships.

A person must be physically and mentally fit in order to survive in this difficult and competitive world in which we live. The term “Healthy Body Healthy Mind’ speaks volumes. If a person is out of shape physically, their mind will certainly function in an offbeat and unhealthy manner.

Adults that grew up in a toxic environment tend to suffer from depression, anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. We can’t chose the families in which we are born into. However, we can certainly change our circumstances and work toward improving ourselves and our everyday way of life. Improving ones life might involve completely removing any family member or acquaintance that has proven to be a negative influence in our life.

I do agree that growing up with uninvolved parents can make ones life harder. However, we have the ability to turn a bad situation into something good and worthwhile. Learning experiences weather good or bad have a definite impact on our well being.

It is important for a person to set goals and keep working toward those goals until you are satisfied. Never allow anyone to discourage you or your lifelong dreams.

Surrounding yourself with positive individuals that know what they want will help you immensely. Stay away from the losers. People that are stuck in a rut with a negative and defeated attitude are toxic for sure. It is easy for people such as this to spread their harmful toxins to just about anyone that is willing to listen to them.

My simple solution for dealing with toxic individuals. You must get the toxic person and all of their toxic gases out of your life completely. If you don’t the toxic gases become overwhelming eventually crippling you mentally and physically.

Remember, toxic individuals love to collect weak and vulnerable people. Once the toxic person collects its victim the toxic individual spreads their harmful venom and toxic gases to weak and vulnerable individuals.

It’s time to get rid of all toxins and debris. Follow the winners until you reach the finish line. Keeping this mindset can bring you nothing but success and a feeling of satisfaction. Keep in mind, no one ever said it is going to be easy.

You will most certainly encounter some bumps in the road when pursuing your dreams. However, with time, patience and positive reinforcement you can iron out any bump or barrier that stood in your way. Once this occurs you will have the world in the palm of your hand.

Parenting & Parental Influence:

I am not sure everyone would agree with my rules concerning parenting. However, I believe a parent must plan a family well in advance. I believe it is the best thing in the world for a couple to marry and put off starting a family for at least 3-5 years.

Delaying a family can help strengthen the emotional bond between a couple. Therefore the couple will grow even closer. In addition, if husband and wife have lucrative careers, delay in having children will allow the couple to increase their bankroll long before they start pushing a baby stroller or warming up those baby bottles.

If the couple manages to make a success of their career, they may never have to warm a baby’s bottle. You can hire someone to warm the bottles and change those not so sweet smelling diapers.

It costs a great deal of money today to raise children, to educate them and see that they have what they need to live a stable and happy life. I feel any parent that doesn’t keep these principles in mind doesn’t deserve to have children.

Remember the couple makes the decision to bring new life into this world. The child has no say in the matter. It is up to the parent to make the child’s journey a pleasant one. The parent must also provide discipline and guidelines concerning what is tolerable and what isn’t. If and when a child crosses certain boundaries , it is a parents duty to show the child who’s boss. NEVER attempt to become your child’s best friend. If you do then you are potentially altering the “Parent Child Relationship” beyond repair.

A best friend is someone you may go to a movie with or play hockey with in the street. Parenting and “Best Friend” don’t belong within the same sentence.

It’s a tough world out there. A child must be raised in such a way that they are ready to tackle that cut throat world with confidence and tenacity so that they succeed. You only have one life. It’s important that a person does it right the first time with no regrets or misgivings.

The phrase “if I could do it over again” don’t exist in my life. The reason for this is because I did it right the first time. I never look back and I have no regrets. Regrets are a waste of time and energy.

YES_ we all make mistakes. The lesson is that we learn from our mistakes, we do better and we move forward. Moving forward is what life is all about.

We have some of the best Universities and College’s in the USA. Institutions for learning are essential if you want to have a successful career or profession. However, Universities don not teach “life lessons”. Lessons of this nature are only learned through experience.

If a person makes the statement “I Can’t Cook” my most famous reply is did you ever try?
I am a firm believer that Can’t means won’t. I can easily correct the cooking statement by saying “You mean you won’t cook.

Survival & Rejection:

Surviving in this world requires superior survival skills. Survival skills are not learned by reading a textbook or by listening to the most renowned instructor. We learn these particular skills by doing.

Yes, we may experience setbacks and unpleasant events. However, when you fall off a horse you don’t give up. You get back on that horse again. The second time around we need to be more careful.

Even the most skilled writer will experience rejection . Rejection is common especially early in ones career. Rejection can not be taken personally. You must find out why you were rejected and work toward improvement. Rejection should serve as a steppingstone for self improvement not defeat.

Writing is a competitive field. Therefore, even the most gifted writer must continually reinvent themselves and go with the flow. Find out what appeals to readers. Once you do this, you must tailor your writing or story telling toward a particular demographic.

Write about topics in which you have an interest. Look at rejection as something that will guide you to do better not give up. Experienced writers always keep notes, they refer to journals and they are always aware of their surroundings. Sometimes simple everyday happenings can turn out to be one heck of a story.

Finally, attend workshops, enter writing contests. In addition, mingle with other writers. All it takes is one person to discover your potential. I am sure I don’t have to tell you how important “Connections”: can turn out to be. One connection can give you that “Big Break” that could end up launching a fabulous career.

Interaction with others is necessary for growth and self-improvement:

Other people are so important for social, personal and economic growth. I am always open to meeting new people. I guess it can be said I am a people person.

I find people in general interesting. Even a reserved shy person has something to contribute. In addition, I respect every person that I meet. The only time this doesn’t apply is if the person gives me a reason not to respect them or what they represent.

As important as others may be, you do need alone time. However, it is important to keep in mind that if you isolate and spend too much time alone you are in a sense signing your own death warrant. You are limiting yourself and your career goals.

Being alone makes life 10x harder than it would ordinarily be. In addition, you can’t make an important connection unless you meet others in which you are able to connect . If you feel you may be an antisocial type person, believe me it is never too late to change.

In Conclusion:

Never be too modest, accept compliments as well as criticism. Remember no time is wasted time unless you perceive it to be. Never forget to thank a person for their time and interest. Time is so very valuable.

We can never turn back the hands of time. Therefore, it is so important that we don’t waste a minute or even a second. We don’t get those minutes or seconds refunded back to us at the end of the week in a payroll envelope.

As strange as this may sound to some, “NEVER” be afraid to tell someone you love them. Love can take many forms. We love our children, we love our parents. We can love a significant other even a friend. However, sometimes we must not only express love and care but we must say the word. Love is a four letter word which has a powerful and lasting impact.
