Turn the heart of the father...

A father misses his daughter

I read my Bible in the sunlight,
How God turns the father’s heart to his child
And my whole heart turns to you,
Reaching across the distance between us.

Memory floods my heart with love:
Laughter, conversations from gentler days,
Echoes of joy that still remain
Though sorrow now has changed their shape.

My heart is torn, my soul undone;
It hurts not to be with you
I long for healing, for you to come home,
Yet a shattered life stands between us.

A broken world, injustice, time...
All have stolen what love once held.
How does one carry such hidden grief,
Such silent pain that will not settle?

Yet the birds still sing beneath blue skies,
And my eyes fill with light
God has His season, God has His hour;
He is not late to restore what was broken.

May His love surround and keep you.
May His peace fill your heart.
And though we walk these separate roads,
By grace we shall not always be apart.
