We had to use the 8 words in bold |
| Distance is the great editor. It fractures memories, splinters recollections, and filters emotions, leaving a shattered mirror of the past. We anchor ourselves in those misbegotten shards of glass, yearning to put the pieces back together, to weave the souvenirs of our lives into a single mosaic, made vibrant instead of ashen. And nostalgia? That fraternal twin of distance? Nostalgia is the great manipulator. It gaslights perceptions, bends old realities into fantasy, transforms gravity into whimsy. Quietly, we hunger for what once was, and recklessly, carelessly, we pursue what can never be again, seduced as we are by the lies those twin agitators sell us. Would that we could leave the past behind, and move forward, without looking back, to find our peace on the road ahead. Want to hear me recite this poem?
