Isolation Map

Rated: 18+ · Poetry · Personal · #2359975

Forgotten, rediscovered, and the realization that it was for the best.

Shoo away the dust bunnies
with a puff of hemp
and...surprise! There I am,
folded up and packed
like a map in the glove box.
Is it my isolation you found
when you were forgetting to look?
Load me on the drive and
print me out. Do I seem
to have remained as you
remember? Has the dark side
of the internet taken my place?
It's just lines upon lines upon lies;
a code that knows me unlike you.
Fraudulent and dramatic. When
I suspended the concerns for
my own feelings to tend to
yours, I stopped at becoming
you. Short of breath and time.
A smaller bit of mine. A blip.
A dot, a line, and another dot,
unconnected and asymmetrical.

You tried to plug me back in
and...surprise! Just
screeches and shadows.
A sick kid left to wander,
and the map is out of ink.
