Tonight’s story is one that no one will believe. It’s about the Pink Monkey Thief, our most ridiculous criminal. He wears a bright pink monkey costume and steals only bananas, rubber ducks, and harmonicas.


One night, he sneaked toward the Metropolitan Museum to steal the famous Golden Banana Trophy.


He tiptoed to the entrance and tugged on the handle.


“The door is locked,” he whispered.


“Of course it is,” said a voice behind him.


The Pink Monkey Thief spun around to find his nemesis, Dr. Zane the Insane, holding the Net of Futility. Dr. Zane hurled it, but Pink Monkey dodged.


Panicking, he tossed a banana like a smoke bomb and ran into the darkness.


“And that concludes Chapter One. Before we continue, let’s talk to the author of this story, Ben Sorry.”


“Thanks for having me,” Ben said.


“Yes, now down to business. Why would you write such a ridiculous story, and why is the monkey pink?”


“That’s easy,” said Ben. “The answer to both questions is my little girl, Nela. She loves pink and she loves monkeys, but I never planned for this story to go public.”


“So why now?”


Ben sighed dramatically.


“Because Nela, Precious Nela found my manuscript.”


“That doesn’t sound so bad.”


“She corrected it.”


“Corrected it?”


“She added seven more pink monkeys, gave the villain a pet llama, and mailed the story to every publisher she could find.”


The podcaster blinked. “How many publishers?”


Ben "So many, that I’m now under contract for a twelve-book series.”


A distant voice shouted, “Dad! Book Three needs more rubber ducks!”


Ben buried his face in his hands.


“And that,” said the podcaster, “is the real crime.”
