A Grave Robber learns the ultimate lesson..

I waited until almost midnight before I made my move into the Hidden Hills Graveyard. There is one place I have had my eye on for some time now, and I was sure of the treasures I found would be worth the risk. The Night Guards' rounds would not be for another hour or so, and hopefully, my work would be done by then.

I found the crypt easy enough without the Moon shining bright. The moaning of the wind covered my breaking inside. The smell of the old tomb hit me in the face, and I paused to let the stench of the old air out. Soon, I made my way down the cement steps. My boot steps rang out loudly.

At the bottom of the steps, I brushed the cobwebs out of my face and shivered. I hated spiders. Before sat the coffins. Three of them are resting inside the marble sarcophagus, and two are just resting on slabs off to one side.

One by one, I opened them up. Inside the corpses lay in a state of rest, wearing their finest at the time. Jewelry adorned the ladies: earrings, necklaces, and rings. I took them all. Having to snap off a couple of stubborn fingers. I smiled at my haul so far.

Next, I attacked the sarcophagus one by one. One old man had his wallet inside his suit jacket, full of money. As if he could spend it later on. There had to be hundreds of dollars, and of course, I put it in my pocket.

The last sarcophagus held the person I had been waiting to meet. She had been a rich widow who was decked out in Pearls, Rubies, Emeralds, and Diamonds. There had to be hundreds of thousands on her old parchment body

I could not believe my luck. Then I heard the sound. I thought it was just the wind moaning through the door. But as I listened, the sounds became words. An old lady's voice asked why I had robbed her family. I said out loud that they did not need it anymore and that I could put it to better use. Then I noticed the air had become mustier every minute.

The high-pitched laughter followed. The door to the tomb slammed shut, and the voice said, "Welcome to the Family!" Followed by more laughter.
