Denton makes a wrong turn to get more money.

Income Versus Expenses
“I need more money!” Denton complained.

“I just gave you money.”

“I know Mom, but it isn’t enough. We’re in a recession.”

“The only way to get more is by working.”

“There isn't any.”

“Tim Horton's is hiring.”

“I’m above that kind of scud work!”

“Listen son, a job in fast food is a way up the ladder to something better. Try it. At least, they’ll feed you.”

“I’m going to find something else.”

Denton’s mom, who was a single parent, watched him leave with worry in her eyes.
Hours later, two policemen showed up at the door.

“Is your son, Denton home?”

“No.”

“Do you know where he is?”

“He’s job hunting.”

The officers looked at each other.

“What’s the matter, where’s my boy?”

“He’s in hospital, ma’am. He was shot trying to rob the Merchants Bank.”

“I need to go to my baby! Please take me!”

By the time his mom got to the hospital, he was in surgery. She took a seat in the waiting room and began to pray.
A man in scrubs approached her.

“Are you Denton’s mom?”

She nodded.

“He’s fine. The bullet in his thigh was deep, but I managed to extract it without further damage.”

“Can I see him, Doctor?

“He’s still sleeping, but you’re welcome to sit with him. Room 356.”

She raced to the room and went in. She pulled the visitor’s chair close. Taking his hand and began to pray.

“I’m sorry, Mom. I know you taught me better. But I wanted enough money to look after you for a change,” a hoarse voice whispered from the bed.

“We don’t need money you get that way!”

“I know that now. Forgive me?”

“I’ll get you a good lawyer that’s the best I can do for now.”
