| "You are not driving home after dark," "Oh, mom. I'll be fine." "Doesn't matter how good you are behind the wheel, Sebastian. Even the best drivers don't see a moose until it's too late." "I won't be that late." "You think the moose wait in line to lunge out at unsuspecting cars?" "Oh, ma" "They don't have watches. Coming home even at the time is late enough for a moose." "I could take the Land Rover." "Doesn't matter the make of the car, boy." his father added as he walked through the kitchen to the fridge. "Moose move when they want to." Sebastian let out a frustrated sigh, "I promised I'd drive." "Well, you'll have to tell your friends your parents said no." His father said as he fetched himself another beer. "I don't think you should be going at any rate," His mother said looking rather nervous. "Let him go if he wants. Just don't take our vehicles." "Fine. I'll see if Andy can drive." Sebastian picked up the phone and called his buddy. Within the hour they were on the road. "I don't feel good about this George. I got a feeling -" "You and your bloody feelings. Let it go, Margaret. The boy will be fine. I told him he might as well stay out and come back in the morning. Save us all the headache." "I just -" "Let it go, woman. The boy's fine." A knock at the door just after ten that night told a different story. Word Count = 251 words Notes ▶︎ |
