lady liberty

if women took over the world

Rosie smashes a hole into the wall,
like god, the kennel dogs grovel in submission
we sedated them with literacy tests & legislation,
rich in misconceptions & falsehoods written in blood—
drowning them in the medicine of the 1950s,
which was dealt to our sisters before us

winston churchill shook his fist with contempt,
wrinkles cascading like the bodies of men's rights activists
the government ceded their men to us like bottles of old nail polish
an ROTC convention burned to the ground
salarymen crumpled into a drunken paper mache—
draping satin gowns over their rat king like war veterans

gold with machismo & weaponized incompetence,
they hold up a trophy made of pyrite—
as we strip them of their rights to lie
gossamer scratches with effervescent suffrage,
a warm bronze cascades over lady liberty—
afterglow with the triumphance of womanhood
