the magic of an ordinary day |
An ordinary day. Nothing special going on. No guests arriving, no parties planned. Nowhere to need to be. Just an ordinary day. No storms on radar, no projects needing finished. A lazy sort of day. Just an ordinary day good for finishing a book or taking a prolonged nap. You both putter about the house. Just a same old, same old kind of day doing whatever you feel like doing. Long conversations about nothing, over cups of coffee on the porch. An ordinary day full of dogs barking: let me out, let me in, where's my treat? Here's my toy, come play with me. Wait. Squirrel! Let me out! Just an ordinary day where unscheduled friends just show up for coffee or beer or this or that. And that morphs into dinner later. Just an ordinary day when the lawn gets cut and the air is scented by newly mown grass. Just a same old, same old kind of day when the dishwasher is run and someone's lost their phone and Amazon arrives to barking dogs. An ordinary sort of day when we'll sit for hours on our computers, playing games and swopping scores. Not even talking; just breathing the same air. Just an ordinary day when I'm writing and he knows don't interupt. But then he's in the garage building a something or tinkering with this or that. Just an ordinary day when we'll decide to go out for an ice cream cone because why not? Even though we've had dessert already. Just a same old, same old kind of day when 'I love you' s are said and we finish each other's sentences and we laugh-- a lot! Just an ordinary day in our own little world that is full of magic just because! |
