Memories of an old cowboy I once knew.

Old cowboy

He was just an old cowboy,
hadn’t too much to say,
some folks thought him a fool.
But his friends would tell ya you had him all wrong.
it was just his cowboy way.

Folks who didn’t know him
found him hard to take,
those that did sometimes felt the same way,
he wouldn’t ever speak up to show you he’s right,
he’d rather leave and just bid you good day.

Cowboys like kittens,
old dogs an cool mountain mornings,
Bull Durham quirlies ‘n’ guitars 'n' horses n such.
a song, laughter and wide spaces,
old cowboys don’t ask for too much.

Now that old cowboy is gone,
tending Saint Peter’s cows,
guess he’d say that that’s just how it goes,
last time I saw him he was humming this song,
for some girl he once knew I suppose.

“I’m just an old cowboy,
Lonesome an blue,
Just an old cowboy,
but I’m so in love with you,
so in love with you.”
