A Question of Forgiveness

A pondering inspired by a contest prompt

Do we have the authority to forgive everyone unconditionally? If we do, should we?

It is brought up in the description of this contest of forgiving those of the worse offenders like Hitler and Stalin. I do not believe that my capacity to forgive goes that far personally. In my belief, we don't necessarily have to forgive them; but we are asked to put such questions aside and ask for them to be given the Higher Powers assistance to see the error of their ways. We do not wish them ill will per say; even evil such as this is protected by the harm none rule. We can ask that their karma is swift before they harm anyone else.

I have learned, through trial and error, to simply let it be. It is what it is.

I did once in my misguided past try to wield the powers of black magic. I was pretty deep into it. I cursed others and tried to make them come t o extreme harm, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. I have and still experience much of the three fold karma of my past actions. I've been tempted to use it again upon occasion when those I care about are harmed by others. I know that the price for such actions is too great.

I use a lot of calming exercises like meditation and divination techniques today to deal with all the harm that is perpitrated in the world today. I find myself my own place of serenity and coming to terms with reality. It is all any of us can really do.

Violence begets violence. Things such as revenge and seeking our own justice are just rewarding the creators of the evil witth more senseless evil. Where does the cycle end?
