Inspired by the 8th labor of Hercules

Horses now are his goal,
but not just any foal.
Diomedes fed them human meat.
A strange idea of a horses treat.
They were wild and quite insane.
Murderous beasts that king did train.
He was charged with capturing them.
He went with friends to help catch them.
Together they stole the Mares.
The horses had some wild hairs.
One of the party was eaten on guard.
He avenged his friend it wasn't hard.
He fed Diomedes to his own mares.
It brought forth many stares.
Once captured and hauled back to the king.
The king decided they were a sacrifice thing.
This time refused by Zeus himself.
The creatures he sent were bad for the horses health.
