Summer
I deserve to be haunted

I'm at my doorstep. Sunny kisses me goodnight and runs back to his car. Everyone must be asleep by now so I have to put my best efforts into not waking them up. Both my parents are light sleepers. My younger sister is probably deep asleep and my older sister is either at some guys's house or at the club. I take my pink boots off at the ginger cat doormat. There was a note along with the spare key under the mat. It said, From Dan. I slowly unlock the door with the note clutched tightly in my fingers. I quietly reach my room and plop down on my silk sheets. From Dan... Couldn't he had just texted me instead? I open the note. "Summer, I came to your house to check on you but you weren't there. Call me back when you see this." It read. I sleepily turned to the other side of my bed to where my phone was. The phone rang half a beat. "Hello?" Dan's voice came out electrified, despite it being a little past midnight.
"Hi Dan.. You came over earlier?" He shyly giggled like he always does when he spoke to me, Sunny always found that weird but I find it cute. We're just friends after that and nothing ever will change that. "Summer I need to speak to you urgently. But I need to do it face to face." Without another word I blurted-"Come over." "I'll be on my way, 5 minutes." He hangs up before me.

"Summer Ryan Rockwell, what are you doing inviting another guy over this late when you have a boyfriend?" Alex! "Alex! Where are you?" "Summer, I know I'm not here anymore so I don't mind if you're with Dan, but what about Sunny?" How does she know I'm dating Sunny.. She died before we started dating. "Alex, how do you know I'm dating Sunny?"

I find myself infront of the front door, holding the door open as Dan comes in. How come I'm here when I was just upstairs a moment ago.. I don't even remember hearing the doorbell ring. "Hi, Dan" "Hi, Summer" He shoots a crooked smile to my heart. We sit at the kitchen table." Summer, I've been having these weird dreams and you've been in everyone of them." I rub my fingers against the wooden table."What kind of dreams." My delayed reply makes me shier. "I see Alex looking down on the both of us, she's an angel. A beautiful one, the most beautiful in my eyes." My red face must be unseen under the dim lights of the kitchen, it has to be.I tuck a strand of loose hair into my ponytail "What are you trying to say Dan?" It sounded more like a threat than a question. But Dan was always up for everything. " Summer, I'm in love with you." "Dan I have a boyfriend." Dan laughs, now more smug, not a hint of shyness. "I don't care about your boyfriend Summer." He stands up and I do too. We are facing eachother. And there is space between us. This is my choice now. I could risk it all and close the space between us. Or I could tell him to go back home." Daniel... I" I hold his hands and they drop into mine. But I don't kiss him. I count until three in my head and close my eyes. He starts kissing me like Sunny had never before. He is making me feel like Sunny has never before. I feel his longing and his waiting. I feel it like I am him. I wonder if this is how I've always made him feel. And it feels so good. He feels so good to me.

"Dan... let's stop." He quickly pulls away. My eyes fixate on a beautiful sight. His dark hair was all over the place . His pupils are dilated. His dark eyes, darker than I've ever seen them. His face is all shades of red and his lips even redder. "I should go.." He leaves. He doesn't go he leaves me, standing in the middle of my kitchen after I've done something I was never supposed to. And I loved it so much. I loved him so much and now he's gone. My cognitive function starts up again after I reach my bedroom. I have just kissed my dead bestfriend's boyfriend. I also have my own boyfriend. I have just broken two people's hearts. One alive and one no longer. One probably knows. I'm expecting her for some reason. Like I've spoken to her after she's died before. "So, Summer you did it even after I warned you." "Alex, look sorry I'm sorry it just happened okay, and what do you mean warned..." She sighs. "Summer I don't have enough time so I am going to explain this to you as quickly as I can before my time runs out.. I am a ghost narrator. I narrate you and Sunny's love story and that's how I know you two are together. I work at a company where ghost narrators who were writers in their past lives narrate their loved ones' stories. A lady in black writes everything we think. She is the boss of the company and she sits at a desk in the sky watching us experience the stories. I spoke to Sunny and you earlier at the beach but she stopped writing during our conversation while I was explaining. When she stops writing at your next scene with Sunny you both forget our conversation. She gave me a five minutes to say this, I spoke to you earlier before you met Dan too, warning you not to because I knew this would happen. Now that's all, goodbye and have a nice life." Everything makes sense and I am scared. I instantly fall to my knees. "Alexandria, I'm sorry. I'm so stupid for doing that and I know how much you love Daniel and I'm so sorry. Don't forgive me,I wouldn't forgive me too. But haunt me, haunt me for the rest of my life, I deserve i! " He never loved me anyways, his eyes were always on you." She concludes and I feel her leave me.

I deserve to be haunted.
