An explanation on how to work this site.

If you're new here, or even if you're not, this is a breakdown of how to use the features of this site.

To make this easier to navigate, I'll go in the order of the bar currently shown when typing.

For the simplest way to use them, simply press the button you want. But I will also explain how to do each manually in case you prefer it that way.
B

This allows things to be
bold. To do this manually, type {b} to start it, and {/b} to make everything in between bold.
I

This makes things
italic. To do this manually, type {i} to start it, and {/i} to make everything in between italic.
U

This
underlines text. To do this manually, type {u} to start it, and {/u} to underline anything you need.
ab

This is called a
strikethrough, and you can use it when you want to be a jerk have a laugh. To do this manually, type {x} to start it, and {/x} to put a line through the text.
A

This straight up hides text and makes them unviewable, so I literally can't show an example. To do this, manually, type {hide} to start it, and {/hide} to make everything in between hidden. Afterwards, only the owner of the item can make it unhidden.
X

This serves two different purposes. Clicking the upper half makes text
super, while the bottom half makes text sub. To do so manually, type {super}this for the up,{/super} and {sub}this for the down.{/sub}
Colour

This changes the colour of the text you want. Simple type {c:COLOUR} to start, and {/c} to finish. Remember to put what colour you want in place of the word. In alphabetical order, you can have:
black, blue, lblue, pblue, brown, gold, grape, gray, lgray, mgray, green, bgreen, lgreen, pgreen, grey, lgrey, mgrey, hotpink, hunter, indigo, khaki, lkhaki, lilac, magenta, maroon, navy, olive, orange, borange, dorange, pink, ppink, plum, red, lred, pred, rose, silver, tan, teal, lteal, pteal, violet, yellow, byellow.
Ff

This changes how your text is seen. For manual, {font:FONT} to start, and {/font} to finish. In alphabetical order, the fonts available are:
Arial, Avenir, Baskerville, Bradleyhand, Bushscript, Calibri, Cambria, Comic, Courier, Georgia, Helvetica, Impact, Lato, Lucida, Merriweather, Monaco, Opensans, Palatine, Playfair, Roboto, Sourcecodepro, Tahoma, Times, Trebuchet, Verdana.
A

This changes the size of text. As of typing this, the default is 12. {size:Xpt} to start, and {/size} to make it bigger or smaller. The availability sizes are: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 32, and 36. Apologies for not showing examples, but the small to large text would make this weird. Try it out yourself.
Pen

This is the highlight feature, and can alter the colour around text. To manually do it, {highlight:COLOUR} to start, and {/highlight} to finish. Making them bold to be easier seen, the current options are:
Blue, Green, Grey, Lilac, Orange, Pink, PRed, Yellow.
Lines

These four obviously do different things. I'll divide this into what each does.

Alignment
These simply change where your text starts. For the default left, {left}{/left} is used.
To write in the middle, {center}{/center} should be used.
And to write on the right, {right}{/right} should be used.
The last one is {justify}{/justify}, and is essentially used to ensure your sentences are always lined up on the left and right. I'm honestly just typing this to extend the sentence so you can visibly see what I'm talking about. Also, I'm typing this during the heatwave of Summer 2026. So I hope you'll give me GP for my suffering.

Line Spacing
This is something I've never used, but {linespace:N}{/linespace} makes the gaps bigger. To use this manually, simply replace 'N' with 1, 2, or 3. Then put an even number like 1.2, 1.8, 2.0, and so on. But 1.0 is the lowest it will go, and 3.0 is the highest it will go.

Indent
I don't really know what this is used for, but I've seen it in some work. All you need to do is type {indent} and it'll happen automatically.           You can even use it mid-sentence.

Quote
The last of the four is {quote}{/quote}, which I'm guessing is use when quoting someone? I have enough idea. But it keeps going, even after using it. So make sure to close it before continuing on.
@

This is the one that you should use when you want to link to an item, or user, or chapter, or anything else on this site. I'll explain how to use each, and what they are for.

Item
{item:NUMBER} is used to link to the various Items on this site, be they Interactives, Books, Campfires, or even this Static Item. At the top, in the 'item info' is the ID number. But that in, and you can link to it.

For example, this item's ID is 2362028. So if I type {item:2362028}, I'll get "Helping New Members to appear. It can even come in different ways. Putting {s-item:2362028} will make it simple, Helping New Members. And {b-item:2362028} will give all the information.

User
There is also {User:} to link to a specific user. As you can see in the above example, my username is 'l0v3rs2g3tha'. So if I put {user:l0v3rs2g3tha}, I get l0v3rs2g3thaMail Icon. I can also put {s-user:l0v3rs2g3tha} to simplify it, l0v3rs2g3tha or {h-user:l0v3rs2g3tha} to show only the handle,

For a quick explanation on the difference between a username and handle; your username is what is permanently on your account and it can't be changed. However, your handle can be changed. I lost track of a friend once, until I noticed this other person had the same username. So try to keep track of what handle someone is using and if they change it for any reason. You can also click a handle to make a bar appear, and their username should be the at the top.

Sadly, I'm not sure what they all do. So try experimenting yourself if you want to give them a look.

Image
After user and item, there's image. Which I'm afraid I can't use, so I can't explained it well. The best it's been explained to be is that it's another item that, once uploaded, can be used by anyone on the site. Type {image:NUMBER} to see if you can do so.

Post
A Post is for a specific type of item called a Message Forum. In said item type, every message has a seven number identifier which can be found at the top, next to the date it was posted. So, typing {post:3817897} will make "For new members"   appear. There are no alternates like with user and item that I'm aware of.

Entry
Typing {entry:} will allow you to link to an entry. However, this is specific towards the Book and Blog items.
Award ... About this awardicon ...

 Given by stephen.ret

 Given to

 Date Awarded: April 13, 2025
An award is something you've been given. Typing {award:NUMBER} allows you to link to said award, like the one above. You can use {s-award:NUMBER} to make it smaller, {l-award:NUMBER} to make it bigger, {t-award:NUMBER} to show the award along with the title, and {n-award:NUMBER} to make only the title appear. The above awards title is The I Got to Be Me Award for example. There are other methods you can try out yourself.
Badge Merit Badge in Zodiac Sagittarius

Here's your merit badge *^*Bighug*^**^*HeartT*^*
This can create a Merit Badge (MB), which can be given to others for 10,000 Gift Points (GB). Like an award, you type {badge:NUMBER} along with the other variants. The above is my personal favorite. You can find the number under the date it was given, which is under the person that gave it, which is under the badge itself.

Newsletter
Type {nl:NUMBER} with a five digits number to link to a newsletter. However, I've never used a Newsletter, so I can't explain it. To the best of my understanding, they are hosted and written weekly by moderators.

Note
Above should be an image of the world. Clicking in it sends you to a place you can post a note. On every not (in the top right hand corner) is a downwards pointing arrow where you can identify the ID number. Type {note:NUMBER} to make the note appear like so: "Note: I've recently been helped by [Link To User..."

Photo
Type {photo:} to use this. This is another item that's specific to a photo album. Unfortunately, my account membership isn't high enough. So I have very little knowledge of this.

Review
If you want to share a review, type {review:NUMBER} to make it visible.
As an example, {review:4875042} will make a link to a review, Review of "Helping New Members" Open in New Window.
And {l-review:4875042} can make a link to the review and reviewer. Review of "Helping New Members" Open in New Window by gresyl

Skin A site skin is, assume, a layout to view the site in. To be honest, this is the first time I've learnt about its existence. Simply type {skin:NUMBER} to show them. I'll now show my favourite from the initial few.

Actions:  Try Use

Trinket
Trinkets are fun little tokens that are shared around. If you have any, click on it and copy the letters in the upper hand corner. As an example, {trinket:XZWVDMBC} was kindly given to me.

Sprint
A sprint is a personal challenge to type as much as you can before the timer runs out. To make one, open the 'Community' tab on the left and click on 'Writing Sprint' and select how many sprinters you'd like to participate in your challenge. Once open, type {sprint:NUMBER} to let others see it and join.
*Sleep*

These are a bunch of emojis. There are far too many to show, but typing {e:} will help of you already know what you're looking for.
GIF

Obviously, a bunch of moving pictures, commonly called a 'GIF'. I don't use them, personally. Typing {embed:giphy:NNXXXNNXNNXXN} with numbers for the N, and letters of the X. However, they have different afford of each, depending on which you're using. So the GIF button would be the easiest way to find what you want.
Paper

Before you can use this, you must click on it and then 'Manage Snippets' to create one. Click '+ Add New Snippet' to name it and decide what the snippet will be. Before you Store Snippet, go to Hot Key to make a shortcut. At this point, you can click on the paper to make it quickly post things you tend to type in much of your work, or use the appropriate shortcut to keep typing.
