Where The World Forgets My Name

A meditation on finding lasting peace not in places, but within yourself.

There is a place that does not appear on maps,
nor surrender itself to those who arrive in haste.
It waits beyond the last obligation,
past the noise that mistakes itself for living,
where silence is not empty,
but gently breathing.

The road there is woven from remembered kindness,
from hands once held
and words that never needed saying.
Every step asks me to leave behind
another burden I was never meant to carry,
until even my shadow grows light enough
to follow without complaint.

The sky knows me there.
It lowers itself like an old friend,
placing blue upon my shoulders
as though forgiveness were a simple weather.
The wind speaks in a language
my heart somehow never forgot,
and the trees answer with patient applause,
celebrating nothing more
than the miracle of being.

Time loosens its careful grip.
Minutes become birds
that refuse to be counted.
Regrets lose their sharp edges,
dreams no longer demand explanations,
and hope sits beside me
without asking what comes next.

Perhaps that place is a quiet shoreline,
where each wave carries away
another piece of yesterday.
Perhaps it is a weathered bench beneath an ancient oak,
or a kitchen filled with laughter,
or the warmth of someone
whose presence has always felt like home.

Or perhaps it has never belonged
to any landscape at all.

Perhaps the one place
where my heart is completely at peace
is found only in those rare moments
when I stop trying to become
someone else,

and finally arrive,
unchanged,
within myself.
