The Book Shop

It is a magical place if you can find it!

There's a book shop at the edge of town,
of some import, by some reknown,
but you'll only find it when you are looking
for something else that you can't find.

You'll know exactly where you found it before,
between the market and the Why-Not store,
but you won't find it when you're out booking,
for the new author on your mind.

It's said the store comes alive at night,
dragons and trolls all come to light.
But don't go there just to see the show
you won't find them: they'll hide, you see!

But should you be seeking some mulberry stew,
or a newsworthy read for me or you,
you might just stumble on it, you know--
and see how wondrous it can be!

There's a book shop out at the crossroads in town,
where every book in the world can be found!
Try walking there backwards, it's a bit of a trick,
but it might work for you! Worth a shot!

You might get lost if you venture out late,
but don't go there early, better to wait!
If you find your way in, you'll have your pick,
of what you'll find --or maybe not!

I know the owner which does me no good
as I won't find it either as, of course, I should!
But that's okay, it's why it's magic,
and you never will know when it is your time!

Keep telling yourself, it's not on today's list
and just maybe this time, the shop you won't miss!
But if you do, it still won't be tragic
because you'll try again, and it'll be fine.
