Lost in a Saturday morning, Innocence Time takes away. The heart of a child Has weathered the miles Though games, the mind No longer plays. Remember the sun through the window, The puppy curled up in a ball. Now clouds share the sky, Old dogs grow and die, As the clock ticks away On the wall. Bubbles we blew on the porch stoop Carried our dreams to the clouds. Did they all burst too soon, Or like metal balloons, Become weight that we drag Through the crowds? We shopped for our clothes in the dresser, News from our cereal box. Never suffered the pains Of too many grass stains, Life always came clean In the wash. Lost in 5am memories, Yesterdays Pages have turned. Many chapters unread, Are the ones still ahead, May we write from the Lessons we’ve learned. |
